Well first and foremost SubscribeStar has far less content restrictions. Basically as long as you don't break the law or violate someone's copyright everything is fair game. SubscribeStar does also take prepaid cards as a form of payment while Patreon does not.
Patreon is more geared towards being a "safe" space so a lot of content is removed for arbitrary reasons. Some of the most common are when people have the "wrong" viewpoint on certain issues that can get you removed. A less common one that would concern your team more is not allowing certain adult content. They do not allow outright pornography, fringe sexual content creations, and glorification of violence.
Basically if you are looking to create "controversial" content SubscribeStar is the better choice. SubscribeStar also has an adult section of its pages that makes it easier to find adult content. I think SubscribeStar may take a smaller cut and is more affordable. But they do also have a higher payout minimum.
